Overall description:

The name Gispert should be no surprise to anyone.  It has been a name in the industry since pre-revolution in Cuba.  The Intenso is the first line addition from Nicaragua, and Is made to appeal to the medium to full bodied cigar lover.  It is a collaboration of Grupo de Maestros and AJ Fernandez.

Initial:  The  Intenso is beautifully constructed with a perfect wrapper, and a great overall appeal.  The band is slightly difficult to read, but not impossible.  Overall, this is a gorgeous looking cigar.

Prelight:  It almost a feels like a shame to light something so pretty.  The aromas produced from the wrapper and the foot of the cigar are different.  The wrapper gives off a beautiful sweet cocoa smell, while the foot is producing hints of leather and spice.  The toasting has an aroma of cinnamon and leather.  Let’s burn!

Overall:  Medium to Full Bodied.  This is my first taste of the Intenso that was given to me by my local shop owner.  I was pleasantly surprised by the cigar.  It starts off medium bodied and as it progresses definitely hits the more full bodied side.  The flavors are fairly consistent, and pleasant and well balanced.  This collaboration is no surprise on flavors, but the strength is definitely a bit surprising from a Broadleaf. For the price, this cigar can definitely fit into any connoisseur’s rotation.
